Origin: USA (named after Bombay/Mumbai)
Despite the name, the Bombay was bred in the USA in the 1950s to look like a miniature black panther — the breeder named it after Bombay because the city was associated with leopards and tigers in the popular imagination at the time.
Black coat absorbs heat — keep them in AC or fan during Indian summer. Otherwise low-maintenance.
Wet food + dry kibble combo. Always free water access. No milk — most cats are lactose intolerant.
A Bombay's eyes can shift between gold, copper, and green depending on light angle.
