Origin: Tamil Nadu, India
The Kanni is a slim, swift Tamil Nadu sighthound — black-and-tan or solid black — traditionally given as a wedding gift in some communities. Calm, affectionate to family, but reserved with outsiders.
Bred for Tamil Nadu — handles southern heat well.
Two meals. Rice + chicken/fish + a bit of curd. Avoid heavy spices.
The word 'Kanni' literally means 'pure' in Tamil — referring to the breed's loyalty to its first owner.
