Origin: Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, India
The Rampur Hound is a regal, fast sighthound from north India, bred by the Nawabs of Rampur for hunting jackal and lion. Today, it's one of the rarest Indian breeds — calm at home, lightning fast in the field.
Adapted to north Indian dry heat and cold winters. Slightly sensitive to coastal humidity.
Two meals: rice + chicken/eggs. Lean and tall, so quality protein matters.
A Rampur Hound is said to have outrun a leopard in a Nawab's hunt — the breed was prized for being able to bring down a Bengal tiger in pairs.
